Abstract

With the underlying financial problem of our local farmers, agriculture crowdfunding was established. It is an online platform that helps farmers with their financing and the people to earn additional profit as investors.

The general objective of the research study is to assess the awareness, attitudes and interest of entrepreneurs, working professionals, and college students as investors in selected areas of Laguna and NCR towards agriculture crowdfunding. Specifically, the research intends to: 1. Describe the socio-demographic makeup of entrepreneurs, working professionals, and college students in selected areas of Laguna and NCR; 2. Determine the level of awareness, attitudes and interest of entrepreneurs, working professionals, and students in selected areas of Laguna and NCR as investors towards agriculture crowdfunding; 3. Identify the factors that affect the level of awareness and interest of entrepreneurs, working professionals, and college students in selected areas of Laguna and NCR as investors towards crowdfunding in agriculture; 4. Recommend strategies that will help increase the awareness level and participation on agriculture crowdfunding.

The study was conducted from March 2019 to April 2019. Primary data were obtained through an online survey questionnaire specifically through social media platforms. The study used a purposive and snowball sampling method. The total respondents surveyed were 256 wherein 57 were entrepreneurs, 104 were working professionals and 95 were college students.

Generally, the study found that the awareness level of the respondents towards agriculture crowdfunding was low. It was also revealed that financial knowledge plays a big part on the awareness towards the platform.

The study also found out that the classification of the respondents had a significant relationship with the awareness level. It was identified that entrepreneurs were the most aware among the three classifications.
