Abstract

This study aimed to determine the distribution patterns of Alcamo zebrine C. Koch & Veitch at two elevational sites and relate such pattern to the physico-chemical characteristics of the habitat The distribution patterns of A zebrine at two elevation sites were investigated The Index of Dispersion revealed that A zebrina exhibited a clumped pattern on both sites. This indicated that elevation does not have any effect on the type of pattern of the species Likewise, statistical analysis showed that light intensity does not have any effect on the type of pattern of the species. Relative humidly and soil pH significantly differed between elevations but the effect was not clearly seen since Individuals in both sites showed a clumped pattern Further analysis showed that the variations in relative humidly and soil pit may have caused the difference in the degree of clumping observed In the two sees Result indicate that the abate factors examined have little influence on the type of pattern exhibited by A. zebrina It is therefore deduced that other related abiotic factors as well as certain biotic factors may have influenced the distribution patterns of A zebrina
