A survey was conducted among the 14 barangays of Los Banos to determine the frequency of familial and environmental cases of cancer. A total of 20 cancer cases were obtained in 9 different barangays of Los Banos Brgy. Putho-Tuntungin showed the highest incidence of cancer with a frequency of 0.1634. Majority of the cases were males with ages ranging from 55 to 59 years old. Among the different types of cancer, lung cancer has the highest incidence. Also, 2 out of the 20 cancer cases were considered as familial cancer. These particular cancers are prostate and breast cancer. Autosomal dominant is the probable mode of inheritance The remaining 18 cancer cases were considered as sporadic cancer. Environmental factors such as diet, cigarette smoking, alcohol intake and pesticides showed a correlation with incidence of cancer.
