Abstract
Acetocarmine squash preparations of root tip cells of F. indica L. pretreated with 0.2% colchine for 2 hours showed that the diploid number ranged from 2n-20, 22 and 24. The modal chromosome numbers were 2n=20 and 2n=24 for Laguna and Davao plant samples, respectively, Karyotype study reveals Groups I, II and II for Davao and Groups I and II for Laguna plant samples. These groupings were based on positions of centromere namely: Group I, median; Group II, submedian; and Group III, subtermal centromeres. The mitotic index was 42, 22%.
