Abstract
Cellulose-decomposing aerobic and facultative mesophilic bacteria were isolated from sediments from Mayondon site in Laguna de Bay. The filter paper in mineral solution and the cellulose-agar methods confirmed that nine out of sixty bacterial cultures were celllulolytic. Cultural, morphological, and biochemical characterization identified six of them as members of the genus Cellulomonas and three of the genus Cythophaga.
