Abstract
To provide useful information for future studies on the molecular biology of makapuno (Cocos nucsfera L.), the free nucleic acids (FNA) in makapuno water were characterized. The FNA isolated from the makapuno water is found to have a concentration greater than 10.0ng/μl. The isolated nucleic acids was subjected to DNase I and RNase A treatment in order to determine the types of FNA. Results showed that FNA in makapuno water are both DNA (-5.0ng/μl) and RNA (-5.0ng/μl). Makapuno sample treated with both DNase I and RNase A also exhibited a positive result (-0 Ing/μ1(-0 Ing/μ1
