Abstract

Greenhouse technology shows great potential in answering the country’s problem on food shortage. There is however a need to improve the stability of local greenhouse structures due to extreme weather conditions. This study aims to improve the design of a tunnel-type greenhouse structure using building design and analysis models to increase its stability against extreme weather. The building design and analysis model identified that the columns of the original design which have slenderness ratio greater than 200 were the most critical components that immediately failed due to flexural buckling.
