Abstract
Proximate chemical composition and vitamin C content of eleven Taiwan cabbage varieties were studied. The varieties used were Charleston Wakefield, Constant hybrid Osena, Early Jersey Wakefield, hercules No. 31 F1, King—L1 F1, Sakata Early F1, Sakata F, Leo, Titan No. 69 F,, V Ji Top F1, Yellow Succession and 09.00.03. Each was compared to the native F1 K—K Cross. Varietal differences in proximate composition and vitamin C content were found significant among the twelve varieties. Carly Jersey wakefield, Sakata Early F1 and Yellow Succession gave highly significant values in proximate composition followed by Charleston Wakefield and V Ji Top F1. The variety 09.00.03 and Early Jersey Wakefield gave highly significant values in vitamin C content followed by King—L1 F, and Yellow succession.
