Abstract
From Philippine raw sugar colorant were extracted and separated into it.: component. The methanol extract at the colorant bulk yielded three removable colorant components after thin layer chromatography on silica gel G plates. The origin an the TLC play, was extracted and separated into three bands by paper electraphoresis. The three other colorant colorant could not be further resolved. The separated components were partially characterized by infrared spectrophotometry and by comparison with the properties of modal Galatia.. It was concluded that the colorant*, were made up of sucrose caramels and alkaline sucrose degradation products.
