Abstract
This study explored the use of gelatin-modified carbon paste electrode (GMCPE) for the analysis of lead (II) using two electrochemical techniques: cyclic voltammetry (CV) and differential pulse anodic stripping voltammetry (DPASV). GMCPE demonstrated the ability to preconcentrate the analyte as sharp, well-defined peaks generated upon employing DPASV on lead (II) solution. Optimization of the experimental parameters was conducted. The optimized conditions include 0.01 M HCI solution as the supporting electrolyte, 10 % (w/w) modifier, 240 seconds accumulation time, 180 seconds deposition time and -800 mV deposition potential. The possible regeneration of the electrode surface was also investigated and it was ascertained that the GMCPE can be regenerated using multiple stripping. The limit of detection (LOD) and the limit of quantification (LOQ) of GMCPE were 1.4137 and 4.7122 ppm, respectively.
