The surfactant levels and some water quality parameters of groundwater sources in Cabuyao. Laguna were studied from August 2005 to March 2006. The parameters analyzed were pH, temperature, total dissolved solids, total hardness, nitrate-N, chloride, lead, and coliform count. The data were analyzed using ANOVA and Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) to determine the variations due to age of well, depth of well, time of sampling, age-time interactions and depth-time interactions. The pH and temperature for groundwater from ten sampling sites ranged from 7.04 - 7.68 and 27.0 to 30.0 "C, respectively. Levels of total dissolved solids, total hardness, nitrate-N, chloride and lead were within the range of 220 - 610, 165.52 -375.78, 1.968 - 2.123, 3.25 - 78.27 and 0.0552 - 0.0947 mg/L., respectively. Surfactant concentrations as methylene blue active substances (MBAS) were from 0.0922 to 1.0216 mg/L while coliform count was from < 1 to 11 MPN/100mL. Except for lead, coliform, and surfactant values. all other parameters gave readings that fall within the Maximum Allowable Limit (MAL) set by the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) for Class A fresh water. Coliform count and surfactant levels exceeded the MAL in 4 and 9 sampling sites, respectively. All sites exceeded the MAL for lead content. Comparison with the previous data (2004) showed that the surfactant concentrations of groundwater from the ten sampling sites in Cabuyao, Laguna obtained from this study were higher (P < 0.05).
