Abstract
The experimental conditions for the synthesis of ethyl butyrate by a crude lipase preparation from Rhizopus sp., II were optimized.
An optimum yield of 80.60 V. ethyl butyrate was obtained at substrates concentrations < 0.40 M ethanol and 0.13 M butyric acid :;water content of 0.2 % and incubation time of 24 hours at room temperature. The amount of ester formed was determined by alkalimetry and the product was identified by gas chromatography.
