Abstract
PROTEINS OF CORN AS AFFECT BY VARIETY AND NITROGEN FERTILIZATION
EDGAR C. TICZON
ABSTRACT
The effect of different levels of nitrogen fertilization on the total protein content and the relative amounts of the Osborne protein fractions in corn kernel was determined in four local varieties of corn, namely, UPCA Var. 1, UPCA Var. 2, UPCA Var. 3 and Glutinuous corn. The effect of variety and level of nitrogen fertilization interaction was found to be highly significant in relation to the levels of total protein and protein fractions in corn for all varieties. Of the protein components, zein and albumin varied directly with total protein.
