Abstract
Blumea balsamifera (Lin.) D.C., as well-recognized insecticide and medicinal plant, and Helianthus annuus L.an ornamental, medicinal and food plant, were studied for their anti-fungal activity at different plant-growth stages.
Different methods of extraction of each of the plant-growth stages were tested for their effect on the anti-fungal property of the extract.
In Blumea balsamifera, the cold extract of all plant-growth stages exhibited antifungal activity at stage II (flower-initiation) as the most efficient. Hot extract of all growth stages did not significantly exhibit anti-fungal activity.
In Helianthus annuus, cold extract at all plant- growth stages did not significantly exhibit anti-fungal activity. However, its hot extract significantly exhibited anti-fungal activity.
