Abstract

Rice plants (BPI-76 B.S.) wore grown in water . culture with different levels of calcium in which RS-17 was used as the base solution.

With increasing levels of calcium in solution the amount of the element absorbed by plants Was correspondingly increased. However, plant height, number of tillers, fresh and dry weight as well as the grain yield, with few exceptions, decreased above and below the concentrations of calcium in RS-17.

The highest level of calcium (1000 ppm) did not kill the plants but their growth were markedly depressed, almost approaching those without the addition of the element.
