Abstract
The effects of soaking cucumber seeds for 10 hours in different concentrations of Dymid and the spraying at different times and rates after planting on the sex ratio and sex tendency of cucumber were studied
Soaking at 1000 ppm significantly lowered the sex ratio on the third lateral branch and the combined sex ratio of the main vine to the fourth lateral branch. Spraying at different times and rates after planting did not gave any significant result on the sex ratio of the plants.
The node number from the cotyledonary leaves to the first female flower significantly differed on the second lateral branch when soaked in Dymid, while the rates of spraying significantly lowered the node number on the first and second lateral branches.
In both Experiments, the sex ratio and node number tended to decrease from the main vine to the fourth lateral branch. Soaking of seeds did not affect the yield of the crop while the rates of spraying gave significant differences on the weight of dill fruits.
