Abstract
A total of ninety (90) species which have economic uses to the Mamanwas were collected and identified. Seventy species are used for medicinal purposes, 29 as food plants, 9 for house construction, mat- making, and basketry, and 7 are used for making tools and weapons. Twenty six species have more than one use. Some plants which the Mamanwas used are similar to other ethnic groups in the Philippines and in some parts of the world. Inspite of similarities in preparing the herbal medicines, there are still some uses of plants which were not mentioned in literature. The study was conducted to enumerate some of the economic plants of the Mamanwas and to discover potentially economic species which would stimulate researchers to develop new plant products for the future.
