Abstract
The cytological behavior and the morphological features of six varieties of Philippine bananas were studied. The meiotic behavior of the four varieties ( 'Binendito!, Miundo!, 'Sabang Puti', and !Turangkog') was abnormal, all of which are triploid with 33 chromosomes. Chromosomal aberrations which lead to the formation of micronuclei and polyspores were observed. The sporads ranged from three to nine. The orientation of chromosomes at metaphase II determined the formation of "S", "T", and "I" types of sporads at telophase II, Dis- Integration of the cytoplasm at Prophese I of 1Pinipital and 'Tiparot! was observed and no pollen grains were formed.
