Abstract
Momordica charantia L., a well-recognized medicinal plant for its anti-diabetic activity, was studied for its alkaloid content.
Localization of alkaloids was found to be in a very high con- centration in the leaves. Alkaloids were also found to be in relatively high amount in the other parts of the plant .
There was a significant effect of decreasing moisture con- tent of the soil on the production of alkaloids in the plant. It was found out that two days after watering is the best time to harvest for maximum alkaloid content.
Upon analysis of the percent moisture of the plant, it was found to be directly proportional of the soil.
