Abstract
Bauwolfia serpentina, a drug plant is very important for its alkaloids which are useful principally for hypertension. Histochemical analysis showed that the alkaloids were pre- sent in all parts - root, stem, leaf, petiole and fruit, in the bark, in between xylem, cortex, and palisade parenchyma. Lower concentration was observed in the pith and the spongy parenchyma. The different kind of manure had no significant effect on aerial part of the plant unlike the effect on the root. The treatments (manuring types) also did not have any significant effect on one another.
