Abstract
Banana tissue explants from the central cylinder of the corm were successfully cultured in vitro using White's and Murashige and Skoog's culture media, supplemented with 25% coconut water and 2.5 or 3.5 ppm 2,4-D. Explants in closer proximity to the shoot apex were most responsive to treatments in terms of increase in mass and callus induction.
