Abstract

The germination inhibitor in the fruit juice of papaya (Carica papaya L.) was found to be thermostable, not extract table with benzene, ether, or ehloroform, but most    effectively adsorbed by activated carbon or 1:1 carbon-clay combination.

Because of the close association of sugars with the inhibitor, the isolation techniques and identification methods failed to purify this germination inhibitor.
