Abstract

Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae (APP) can be detected serologically via Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay (ELISA) or through direct detection via Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR). Nasal swab and serum blood samples from three 164-day old swines are tested whether it is positive or negative from Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae. Viral Gene-spinTM Viral DNA/RNA Extraction Kit from iNtRON Biotechnology Inc. In Enzyme-Linked Immunosorbent Assay, blood serum samples were tested using the protocol from IDEXX Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae (APP-ApxIV) Antibody ELISA Test Kit. This study offer the two techniques; ELISA and PCR that will be great detection tools for animals infected with APP.
