Abstract
This study was conducted to lay the groundwork for future studies on the genetic diversity of the Philippine Native Cattle. A total of 107 hair follicle samples coming from 15 provinces were extracted to obtain the DNA sample, the DNA samples were then amplified using the SNP primer INRA023, after this the samples were loaded in AGE to confirm whether the DNA sequence was amplified or not. Duc to the Covid-19 Pandemic the wet lab activities were halted thus, only 15 samples from 3 genetic groups (Iloilo, Aklan, and Antique) were loaded in PAGE for scoring. Results from PAGE shows that there is genetic variation within genetic group Iloilo, while there were no observed genetic variations within genetic groups Antique and Aklan. Aside from this, there were no observed genetic variations between genetic groups Antique and Aklan. Since the sample size is very small, the author cannot conclude that increasing the sample size within genetic groups and between genetic groups will yield the same results.
