Abstract

The plant practice was conducted at the Quality Assurance Department of Universal Robina Corporation, Calamba 1 which manufactures beverage product such as green tea drinks, juice drinks and purified water. The practicum was spent at Acceptance, Inspection, Physicochemical analysis and Microbiology division of Quality Assurance department. The trainee was acquainted with the different task in the department which includes analysis of incoming raw materials and packaging materials, on-line sampling and monitoring of standards, physico-chemical analyses, microbiological analyses and on-line inspection. Through the plant practice, the trainee has had a chance to apply the principles and theories in food science learned from the university. New techniques in analysis of food material were also learned. The plant practice provided training not only on the technical aspect of a practicum, but also on good companionship and camaraderie with other personnel.
