Abstract

The trainee conducted his plant practice at Alaska Milk Corporation at San Antonio, San Pedro, Laguna for a period of 150 working hours from April 15 to May 11, 2013. Alaska Milk Corporation is a company that produce powdered milk drinks, coffee creamer, evaporated milk, condensed milk, sterilized milk, powdered chocolate milk and yoghurt drink. The student was assigned at central laboratory QA (PHYCHEM) and Microbiology QA. The trainee was exposed to different laboratory skills including physicochemical analyses, in line sampling, microbiological analyses and sensory evaluation. The trainee gained knowledge of different milk products, the good manufacturing practices established by the company including its strictly 5S (Sorting, Straightening or Setting Order, Sweep/Shine Standardized cleaning-point at a 5S organized plant, Standardizing and Sustaining the practice) implementation. After the training, the trainee earned great awareness about the production of different types of milk, the of sanitation in the plant and the management of the company through good quality systems.
