Abstract
The major practice was conducted from April to May 2012 at the landscapes of the eight public art pieces at Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig City. The public art pieces are collections of large-scale modern sculptures that are part of the Bonifacio Art Foundation, Inc.?s (BAFI) public art program and funded by all lot owners in Bonifacio Global City. These art pieces were designed to both enhance the cityscape and bring sense of culture and style on the estate. The major practice focused on the landscape maintenance operations employed at the landscapes of the art pieces. Maintenance practices covered irrigation, fertilizer and pesticide application, pruning and trimming, weeding, mowing and grass cutting and waste management practices. The student was tasked to evaluate the maintenance practices incorporated at the site through observation and direct participation in the activities. Existing plants on the landscapes of each art pieces as well as the tools and equipment used in the management practices were documented. Relevant information to support the objectives of the major practice were also gathered and collected. A simple cost analysis on the maintenance practices employed at the site of the public art pieces was done to compare and analyze the inputs in maintaining the landscapes. The student also identified existing problems on the area and provided solutions and recommendations to these. At the end of the major practice, reports were submitted to the supervisor managing the art pieces for evaluation.
