Abstract

The farm practice was conducted at RDF Feed Livestock and Foods Inc., Brgy. San Agustin, Magalang Pampanga from March 9 to April 12, 2015. The student had the opportunity to put into practice the knowledge gained in the university, performed all the activities in the different section of the farm and understood the importance of the different practices used in swine operations. Management practices and production performance of the farm where then analyzed thru SWOT analysis. Based on the analysis performed, the farm has high farrowing index, low pre-weaning mortality and short farrowing to breeding interval. On the other hand, inconsistent supply of semen for artificial insemination and problems in maintenance and repairs of facilities were identified as the weakness of the farm. It was then recommended that the farm should have proper scheduling and coordination with the supplier of semen to avoid unnecessary delays and ensure appropriate stocks of semen in AI process. The farm should also immediately maintain and repair all the facilities to provide good environment for the animals.
