Abstract

The major farm practice was conducted at 3J SLN farm in San Pablo City, Laguna from December 27, 2014 to January 22, 2015. The objectives of the farm practice were to participate in actual management practices of the farm; be familiar with common problems existing in a farm; application of theoretical knowledge learned from the university; evaluate the practices performed in the farm; and learn how to interact with the different people in the industry. Different management practices and activities in the farm were participated such as feeding, cleaning, breeding, heat detection, collecting semen, farrowing, ear notching and tattooing, cutting of umbilical cord, cutting of needle teeth, tail docking, weaning, off-testing, vaccinating, medicating, and marketing which allowed the student to meet all the objectives of the farm practice. Strengths, weaknesses, and other observations were documented and analyzed to determine the best recommendations for the farm.
