Abstract

This report serves as a documentation of the field practice conducted at Cavite Farmers Feedmilling and Marketing Cooperative (CAFFMACO)on April 20, 2010 to May 21, 2010. CAFFMACO is a feed milling company located at Brgy. San Vicente, Silang, Cavite. CAFFMACO was formed on October 30, 1976 and started as a mere idea conceptualized by barangay scholars who undergone training in livestock and poultry production at International Institute for Rural Reconstruction (IIRR). The IIRR helps various communities to arrive at sustainable solutions for poverty reduction, livelihood development and community health improvement. Today, CAFFMACO is considered to ber a pioneer in the animal feed milling industry in Cavite. Feed milling industry in the country almost mainly on the growth or success of livestock and poultry production. Similarly, the productivity and profitability of livestock and poultry are also dependent on the production efficiency and advanced technology of the feedmilling industry having the ability to produce high quality feeds at reasonable and stabilized prices. This report focuses on the processing operations and procedures done in the company's production area, warehouse and laboratory department as well as the pre-milling and post-milling procedures. Pre-milling operations include purchasing, delivering, quality testing, weighing and storage of raw materials.On the other hand, processing operations include grinding, automatic batch weighing mixing, pelleting and crumbling while post-milling operations include transferring, fork lifting, and storage of finished products. The field practice exposed and trainee to the various feed milling operations as well as the different machines and equipment used during the manufacturing of different type of feeds. It also helped the trainee acquire knowledge and experience in the plant management aspect. The practicum gave encountered by the manufacturing as well as recommended some solutions to solve those problems.
