Abstract

The plant practice was accomplished at Universal Robina Corporation located at National Highway, San Cristobal, Calamba City, Laguna for a total period of 150 hours from May 2, 2014 to May 28,2014. The company is a large scale processing plant that produces beverages, confectioneries, and snack food. The student was assigned at the technical department of snack food plant consisting of the Quality Control and Quality Assurance laboratory. In these sections, the student was able to inspect and analyze raw materials, packaging materials and finished products as well as observe in-line plant inspection to ensure the safety and wholesomeness of the product. At the end of the plant practice, the student was able to apply theoretical concepts acquired from the University and gained hands-on experience and an actual food processing operation. The experience gained from the training prepared her for future work as a food technologist. Recommendations and suggestions that are based on the student's observation of the company practices are stated.
