Abstract

The major farm practice was conducted at the Animal and Dairy Sciences Cluster Dairy Farm, University of the Philippines Los Baños, College Laguna, and Real Fresh Dairy Farms Incorporated, Brgy. Masaya, Bay, Laguna from April 19-May 15, 2010. During the farm practice, the student was able to observe and evaluate similarities and differences in the two farms. The student was also able to practice and apply what he has learned in the university in the two farms. These activities include cleaning of pens, calf rearing, feeding of animals, heat observation, herd health management, milking, milk analysis, milk processing, perform cleaning-in-place(CIP), pregnancy diagnosis, record keeping, and rectal palpation. Data were analyzed using Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats (SWOT) matrix done for both farms. Recommendations, problems encountered and lessons learned were presented in this major farm practice report.
