Abstract

Four types of weirs were dimensioned, fabricated, and calibrated for instruction and research use at the CEAT, UPLB Hydraulic Laboratory. Using two methods data analyses, the coefficient of discharge (Cd) of each weir were determined abd ar found to be within the range of values experimentally establisehed by other researchers. Predicted discharges (Qp) using the calibrated discharge coefficients were validated with actually measured or standard discharges (Qs). For all weirs under both methods of analyses, the correlation coefficients of Qp and Qs are high (0.9889 to 0.9980) with low standard deviations (0.00158 to 0.00261). The means of % Qp deviation from Qs is 1.1% or less and the standard deviation of ΔQ is 4.1% or less. Moreover, the correlation coefficients of Qp and Qs ranges from 0.9889 to 0.9980 with standard deviation from 0.00149 to 0.00261. Indeed, the fabricated weirs and their calibrated equations are valid and reliable in estimating discharge in the existing glass-sided flume at the CEAT, UPLB Hydraulic Laboratory.
