Abstract

The plant practice was performed at NutriAsia Inc. in Brgy. Pulo, Cabuyao, Laguna from April 29 to May 24, 2013 for a total of 150 hours. The trainee was assigned in the Quality Control (QC) Department as a QC analyst. QC/ QA Department comprises of three sections: QC-Incoming, QC In-process, QC Finished Goods Inspection and Releasing. QC-Incoming conducted an inspection on raw materials such as moisture content and titratable acidity determination and packaging materials which included leak test, verticality line test, thermal shock test, volume weight, etc. Meanwhile, at the QC In-process, the trainee was able to determine the pH, total soluble solids (TSS), salinity and consistency of the products. Micro evaluation is a special laboratory process done prior to release of products wherein standard plate count, coliform, yeast and mold counts were monitored. In QC FG Inspection and Releasing Section, a post process evaluation was done on finished products as well as label and packaging materials. After the trainee finished the practicum, he acquired knowledge regarding the QC process flow of NutriAsia from unloading of raw materials up to releasing of finish goods all of which may be helpful in preparation for his future career. Also he acquired knowledge on the Food Safety System Certification Documentation of the said company.
