Abstract

In this study, the concentration of cobalt and the parameters that may affect its concentration were determined in strategic sites along Molawin Creek within the University of the Philippines Los Baños campus. Eighteen water samples were collected everyday for three months. The water parameters monitored were pH, temperature, and amount of precipitation. For the analysis of the concentration of cobalt, Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy was used. The temperature of water samples ranged from 23.8 oC to 32.6 oC. The pH range of the water samples was 6.09 - 8.82 pH units and the concentration values for cobalt ranges from not detected to 0.0128 ppm. From the results of the analysis, an agent-based modelling software was used to create a simulation that shows the flow of cobalt concentration in Molawin Creek.
