Abstract
The practical training was done in Wyeth-Pfizer Philippines Incorporated in Canlubang Industrial Estate Bo. Pittland, Cabuyao, Laguna for 252 hours for April 19 to May 23, 2011. One of the objectives of the plant practice was to gain knowledge on how milk is being produced, developed or even modified in industrial level and not just for laboratory experiment set-up. The plant practice also aimed to increase the knowledge of the trainee about the company and the techniques performed inside the laboratory or production department. The trainee was deployed at the Microbiology Laboratory for the duration of the practicum. The tasks of the practicum revolved on aspects related to microbiology laboratory. The trainee was exposed to a diverse set of roles through hands-on training on tasks such as media preparation, environmental monitoring, liquid mix-water sampling, systems role. Pertinent systems implemented was also introduced like the 5s of Good Housekeeping. The trainee also observed testing and sampling processes for raw materials and finished product which includes pre-enrichment and routine testing as well as the confirmatory and follow up testing in the pathogen laboratory. The trainee was also able to briefly understand the importance of sustaining a controlled manufacturing facility with regards to safety, product quality, and employee development.
