Abstract

The practicum was conducted at SYSCORE Inc., a toll packer company for Gatorade, Dole Tomato Sauce, Sola and Aktivade, located at Cabatuhan Road, Deparo, Caloocan City. The training lasted from April 11, 2011 to May 6, 2011 for a total of 150 hours. The trainee was assigned to three divisions – Bottling line, Sauce Testing, and at Microbiology Laboratory. Such activities performed by the trainee include physico- chemical analysis, microbiological analysis, in-line monitoring, receiving and inspection of raw materials, and sampling of finished goods. Throughout her stay, the trainee was able to apply the theoretical knowledge and skill she have learned at the university. The training provided the student a clear picture of the working environment in a food processing plant. She was also able to be familiarized with the machines, equipments and procedures used in the plant. The trainee learned new skills and laboratory techniques, such as vacuum filtration. The trainee also developed her self – confidence and self – esteem in performing the assigned task to her, as well as her working attitude when it comes in dealing with the people around her. Plant practices were observed and the problems encountered during the training were noted. Possible solution to the problems and recommendations for the improvement of the plant were also included in this report.
