Abstract

United Pulp and Paper Company, Incorporated which is located at Km 48 Iba Este Calumpit, Bulacan is one of one of the main paper and packaging provider in the Philippines whose sole business is to produce paper packaging rolls for companies who stores their goods and transports them in paper boxes. The study focused on the Raw Materials Management Section (RMMS) of the company which incurs capital loss investments because of the over inventory of the raw material fibers. The American Old Corrugated Carton (AOCC) fibers had the highest capital loss incurred. The RMMS management based on observation is experiencing over inventory of fiber raw materials. The root causes of the high AOCC fiber inventory level were identified and analyzed using Ishikawa Diagram and CNX analysis. The factors lack of Supervision, lack reminders of SOP, visual signs that are not easily seen, and training not intensively conducted were identified as controllable and were given recommended solutions like use of check sheets, using a sound signal to indicate breaks, providing copies of SOPs to the workers, repainting the lots, arranging the manuals in an orderly way, and proposing a refresher for the training. Not enough manpower to do the monitoring of fiber raw materials at all times in the raw materials yard (RM yard) and poor material planning were identified as experimental factors, Recommended solutions were hiring of additional workers, installation of CCTV cameras in the RM yard, using economic order quantity model and using material requirement planning fixed time period model. These recommendations if followed would require an initial investment of Php231, 00 but will result to savings of Php75, 473, 622 for the year.
