Abstract

The farm practice was conducted at F1 Ferrari Farms Inc. from May 4, 2011 to May 28, 2011. It is a a 196 sow level farrow to finish farm located in Brgy. San Juan, Sta. Cruz, Laguna. The farm practice was conducted in the farm to apply the theoretical knowledge, principles and skills acquired in the university; to gain experience in managing a swine farm; to observe the actual management practices done in a swine farm; to make known of the common problems existing in the farm and offer possible solutions to it. The students was able to participate in the different farm activities such as feeding, cleaning and bathing of the animal, heat detection, assisting the boar during natural mating, artificial insemination, transferring of animals, assisting farrowing animals, different litter management, vaccination and medication, detecting animals showing signs of weakness and record keeping. A technical analysis was done to evaluate the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats of the farm. Recommendations and feasible solutions were also discussed for additional improvement in the operations in the farm.
