Abstract

The major practice was conducted at Manila Polo Club, Mckinley road, Makati City under the management of Golforce, Inc. Manila Polo Club is an exclusive club for sports enthusiast and also an excellent venue for holding events. The majority of its land area is dedicated to the game of polo. The polo season starts every January and ends March of the same year which is also the coverage of the major practice.The main focus of the training is on the maintenance practices done during and every after each polo game consisting of the east and west fields. The east field has a 6 hectares wide land area while the west field is about 2.5 hectares both covered with Bermuda grass (Cynodon dactylon). The maintenance practice includes daily clearing of the jogging path, leveling and harrowing of the sand inside arenas, mowing of the grass, fertilization, irrigation, hand weeding, herbicide application and top dressing. Supervisory skills and dealing with workers also highlighted the major practice.During the major practice, some problems were encountered mainly on major cultural practices. These were noted by the student with proper recommendations for the problems.
