Abstract

Abstract: The 200-hour major practice was conducted at Luz Farms Incorporated, Barangay Pinagsibaan, Rosario, Batangas from May 1 to May 30, 2011. Luz Farms is a member of a multinational corporation which is engaged in producing high performing breeding stocks and market hogs. In there, the student was assigned to every section. The sections that were observed include Breeding, Farrowing, Nursery, Growing Finishing and Veterinary Section. The student was also allowed to observe the marketing strategies and inventory in the farm office. Data was gathered in every section by looking at charts, observing and asking the caretakers. Data gathered consist of management practices done, why those practices are done and how they are done. Furthermore, the farm?s performance in terms of production parameters were obtained and compared with the Philippines? average. The scientific basis of each management practice was evaluated. The strength, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats of the farm were identified by the student. Based on the identified weaknesses, recommendations were made.
