Abstract
Sucat thermal Power Plant was decommissioned and then preserved for more than ten years. General guidelines were stricly followed by the management to ensure the reliability of the systems in case they decided to place it back in service. Also, the power plant wanted to maintain the market value of its assets for financial prospects in the future. Protective coatings against moisture, moisture absorbers or lubricants were used to minimize corrosion. The said guidelines were applicable to any type of power plant. Understanding each step in the preservation methods was very important for the assigned personnel to accurately perform his job. Inspection and maintenance of electrical equipment were also carried out by the management. To properly apply the necessary repairs, it was very important to know how to analyze the test results during equipment testing Moreover, records during the preservation period should be kept for future assets evaluation.
