Abstract
It is the duty of the structure's foundation to effectively transfer the massive loads to the ground. In the case of the Mania Solaire, piles were hammered to the ground until they reached the hard strata. Piles are column type foundations which intend to support axial loads but they should also remain safe in case lateral loads but they should also remain safe in case lateral loads appear. This paper studies the stresses and deflections experienced by a pile group when a magnitude 7 earthquake occurs. However, the study made assumptions on the floor loadings because the designer plans were not provided. In order to test the adequacy of the pile group, information required by the software were collected in the construction site. Lateral analysis results such as deflection, bending moment, and shear were assessed. This study will provide valuable information regarding the safety design of pile foundations in the study area.
