Abstract

Load Flow Analysis is important for electric power system design and analysis. However, solutions involve non-linear equations which require iterative methods. Two examples of iterative methods used in load flow analysis are the Gauss-Seidel method and the Newton-Raphson method, but solving using either of the two mentioned methods take up a lot of time. Also, solutions are prone to errors. The study deals with the development of a computer application that is capable of both methods of load flow analysis. The application prompts users to choose between the Gauss-Seidel method and the Newton-Raphson method. Certain quantities must be supplied by the user to solve for the unknown quantities. Values from all iterations shall be included along with the final values in the output for analysis. Also, as an alternative input method, importing Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Common Data Format (CDF)text files will be supported.
