Abstract
Current transformers are one of the products fabricated by FEDCOR. These CTs are used to step down currents to value suitable for the operation of metering or protective devices. The processes undergone in the fabrication of CTs are simple yet crucial. A wrong step taken leads to the failure of the unit. The specifications for CTs depends on the rating of the unit. The processes undergone in fabricating CTs are the following: core fabrication, annealing, core insulation, core impregnation, core-coil assembly, molding, finishing and testing. FEDCOR follows the IEEE standards for instrument transformers. CTs are tested using the Knopp Current Transformer Test System. It measures the accuracy and reliability of the units. Proper knowledge on each step is significant in the analysis of the study.
