Abstract

Ninety two percent of the procurement transactions in the university was completed through shopping. Even though the end-users can freely choose their suppliers to transact with, the end-users were not that satisfied with the quality of service provided by these suppliers. The study revealed the following major root causes: non-existence of supplier database and the corresponding supplier performance evaluation system. The supplier performance evaluation system is a major recommendation wherein end-users can canvass, generate procurement forms and evaluate suppliers' performance. It will also enable the suppliers to track their performance records, update their accounts regularly and monitor their transactions with the university. The Accounting office's system can also monitor the late deliveries through the proposed system this will be beneficial to both end-users and the suppliers as competitive bidding will be promoted thus increasing the effectiveness of the procurement process.
