Abstract

Field practice was conducted at Central Azucarera Don Pedro, Inc. (CADPI) located at Brgy. Lumbangan, Nasugbu, Batangas. During the practice, actual operations were observed and these were compared with theoretical principles taught in class. The factory manufacturers raw sugar and has its own refinery. The practice was done in different departments in the factory namely Mills Department, Boiling House Department, Refinery Environmental Management and Safety Department, Boilers Department and Quality Control Department. A special problem was also done. Wastewater sample from the Ion Exchange Resin (IER) Column were tested and decolorized using different amounts of Boiler Ash. Using the F-test, it was concluded that among the amounts of boiler ash used, 6 grams is the optimum amount that could decolorize a 100-mL sample of wastewater from IER Regeneration. At 455 nm, it has a color of 68500 PCU from its original color of 94667 PCU with 27.64% removal.
