Abstract
Observation of actual operations and practical applications was conducted via a field practice at CADPI, Nasugbu, Batangas, a sugar manufacturing company with its own refinery. Sugar processing was observed from the entrance of canes to the factory until packaging and storage of products which included the different departments of the factory,namely Mills Department, Boiling House Department, Refinery boilerss Department, Quality Control Department,and Environmental Management and SafetyDepartment. In addition,a special topic on contamination during raw and refined sugar production wasincorporated. The identification of the contaminants and their sources were discussed.Potential process improvements also were also suggested.
