Abstract

The effects of weekly oral supplementation of Panax ginseng, Cuscuta japonica andTribulusterristriswith multivitamins and mineralsconditioning capsule on Packed Cell Volume, Total Red Blood Cell count, Oxygen Saturation, Heart Rate and Bodyweight on male gamefowls were evaluated using thirty (30) gamecocks. The gamecocks were divided into two (2) groups, Control and herbal additive supplemented. One herbal additive conditioning capsule was given orally once a week for four (4) weeks. Results of the study indicate that gamefowls supplemented with herbal additive had significantly higher (P<0.01) PCV, TRBC, OS, HR and BW compared to none supplemented gamecocks. The improvement in PCV, TRBC, OS, and Heart Rate can be attributed to the effect of herbal additive with multivitamins and minerals conditioning capsule on red blood cell formation and efficiency of oxygen delivery to vital tissues and organs of the gamecocks. In conclusion, supplementation of gamefowls with Panax ginseng, Cuscuta japonica andTribulusterristriswith multivitamins and minerals conditioning capsule results in improved blood parameters.
