Abstract
Considering the inland transportation of goods, the Philippine transportation system is evidently dependent on road transportation. To alleviate the problems caused by a lack of alternative mode of transportation for cargoes, this study determined and analyzed the mode switching behavior of freight forwarders in the Philippines by creating a mathematical model. This study considered eight hypothecal scenarios with different levels of attributes namely travel time, travel cost and security of goods. Binary logit modeling was employed in this research along with the revealed and stated preference survey. Statistical software was used for the data analysis. Based on the results, a comprehensive general model that describes the behavior of trucking companies was not generated from the data gathered. However, probabilities of mod switching to PNR were calculated. Problems encountered that hinder the study to achieve its goals as well as possible solutions were presented in this study.
